The digital font used for the titles on this website was created by Denis, originally for use on our wedding invitations, which never got sent because of the pandemic.

The font is called, appropriately, Union Pearl, and is the first known English decorated type, dating from the late 17th Century. The “Union” referred to in the name (which must, therefore have come later) is that of England and Scotland in 1707.

Denis was unable to find a digital version of the font, so set out to create one based on examples in online images, such as the one above. It still needs a lot more work to make it neater and ensure the spacing is correct but it is now sufficiently functional for use on the website!
